Uru Live and other MMOs
So, the tanking economy has changed the face of Uru. There is now a chance the source will be released as an Open Source project, but there will not be a Cyan only version in the near future. It should be interesting to follow the progress of this new version. The community is full of dedicated, creative people who should be able to continue the vision.
I have been playing Age of Conan and, gods help me, World of Warcraft. Age of Conan is extremely beautiful, and I love the combat system, but the quests are pretty simplistic. Also, it is extremely hard to solo adventure in. At every turn there are things just aching to kill you on sight. It doesn't help that my main system won't support reasonable frame rates either, so it is like watching a slightly out of sync movie. I still play it, but not nearly as much as World of Warcraft (WoW).
Yes, after all the diatribes I have become another mild WoW addict. It's sad really, but I enjoy the varied quests and the lack of pretense. WoW always feels light-hearted, like it doesn't have to take itself seriously, and that makes it quite enjoyable. It is also easier to rn solo, which works better for my schedule, not having consistent times when I can be online with it. And it doesn't hurt that my old system will still run at good frame rates even when I am doing other things in the background. Curse you D.S. and your Trial invite.
